Kathy Sue Farrar (Giles)

Mrs. Kathy Sue Giles Ferrar, 72, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her residence in Alba.

She was born October 24, 1953, in Dallas to Fritz and Billie Ruth Baker Giles. Kathy moved from Seagoville to the Alba area in 1984, where she made her home and became a beloved member of the community and a member of Bright Star Baptist Church.

Kathy enjoyed sewing and playing games, but above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She worked as a secretary for the Alba-Golden Independent School District for more than 20 years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Farrar; and four brothers.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Wayland Fortner and wife, Natalie, of Mineola, Don Fortner and wife, Tina, of Quitman, and Chuck Harris of Dallas; daughter, Jennifer Mink, of Henderson; brothers, Joe Giles and wife, Kathe, of Seagoville, and Jerry Giles of Seagoville; sisters, Traci Burge of Alba, Janice Hughes and husband, Larry, of Groesbeck, and Sharon Minter of Groesbeck; eleven grandchildren, Emily, Coleson, Bryar, Brian, Stephanie, Mason, Alyssa, Gabe, Samantha, Matthew, and Luke; great-grandson, Damian; great-niece, Emma Burns; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Kathy is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Bright Star Baptist Church in Alba, with Bro. Andrew Grills officiating, under the direction of the church and family.
