Services for James Alvie Kilborn, 89, of Quitman, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Bro. Andrew Grills and Bro. Jerry Jackson officiating.
Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery,
Mr. Kilborn passed away September 16, 2024, at his residence in Quitman. He was born January 13, 1935, in Quitman, to Alva Lawrence and Ima Ziglar Kilborn. He lived most of his life in the Quitman area and was a member of Bright Star Baptist Church. On October 16, 1959, he married Alma Gay Lawing in Wood County. James served 2 years in the US Army and worked 17 years for Vought Aircraft. He then went to work for Fouke Water Supply and retired at the age of 55. James loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Joseph Kilborn.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gay Kilborn of Quitman; son, James L. Kilborn and wife Becky of Alba; daughter, Beverly Stewart of Quitman; brother, Kenneth Kilborn and wife Donna of Lake Palestine; four grandchildren, Keegan Stewart, Zachary Kilborn and wife Brianne, Greg Steele and wife Heather, and Amy Ezell and husband Chris; six great-grandchildren, Zadok Kilborn, Adalynn Steele, Adam Steele, Aaron Ezell, Aubree Ezell, and Alex Ezell; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Kilborn, Zachary Kilborn, Greg Steele, Marvin Scogin, Johnny Ziegler, and Mike Ziegler.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
