Mr. King passed away March 24, 2024, at his home in Alba, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born November 4, 1945, in Dalhart, to Horace Howard Sr. and Pearl Bell Orr King. On December 22, 1966. Howard married his life-long love, Virginia Gayle Wells in Maud. Howard served proudly as a United States Marine in the Vietnam War. He found great joy in coaching baseball and soccer teams for his son in his youth, was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, and an avid collector of antique cameras. Upon retiring from Meisel after 46 years, he and Virginia moved from Coppell, to Alba, in 2012. Here he became a member and served as a Lay Leader of the Alba Methodist Church. His favorite hobbies were golfing and fishing. He was a member of the Lake Fork Golf Club and found much pride in captaining a boat for the Winnsboro High School Fishing Team. He also served as Treasurer of the Dale Creek Homeowners Association.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Chester King. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia King of Alba; son, Keith King and wife Brittany of Coppell; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
