Services for Mr. Virgil J. Kirkpatrick, 85 of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Danny LaPrade and Ray Kirkpatrick officiating.
Mr. Kirkpatrick passed away November 26, 2013 at a Tyler hospital. He was born June 10, 1928 in Canton to Oscar A. & Willie Rosemond Kirkpatrick. He spent his early years in Van Zandt County, many years in Lancaster, and the last 25 years in Grand Saline. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and served as pastor to Friendship Baptist Church in Lancaster, Calvary Baptist Church and East Center Baptist Church in Grand Saline. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Helen and Ruby.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruby Kirkpatrick of Grand Saline; three daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca & Mark Conley of Grand Saline, Becky Baxter of Sherman, and Beth Wiggs of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Ray & Helen Kirkpatrick of Chandler; four grandchildren, Christie Tittle, Heather Conley, Holli Conley and Jessica Moore; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Tittle, Karlee Tittle, Hunter Houck, Tyler Houck, Kaitlyn Barber and Chloe Moore; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to East Center Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
