ALBA – Funeral services for Edward Joe Kopecky, 87, of Alba, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019, in the chapel, with Bro. Byron George officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. Kopecky passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, in Tyler.
He was born October 14, 1931, in Granger, to the late Joseph and Francis Myer Kopecky. Edward married Doris Helga Karper on November 9, 1984, in Irving. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was an Electrical Engineer and worked for Texas Power &Light (TP&L) Electric for 37 years. He was retired and loved fishing, gardening, and wood working.
He is survived by wife of 34 years, Doris Kopecky of Alba; sons, Mike Nelson and wife Jami of Rowlett and Steven Nelson and wife Laurie of Katy; daughter, Shannon Nelson and husband Daniel of Blueridge; brother, Victor Dan Kopecky of Wilmington, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold Kopecky; sisters, Lorene Speffek and Helen Kopecky; and grandson, Matthew Lane Nelson.
Reception will be after the service at the Alba Community Center for family and friends.
