Betty Laforest

Mrs. Betty Miles LaForest, 90, of Mineola, passed away August 8, 2020, in Tyler. She was born December 20, 1929, in Royse City to Willie Shelman and Ella Viola Dyson Miles. Betty moved from Tarrant County to Wood County ten years ago and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church of Mineola. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Myron Geipe; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard “Bernie” LaForest of Mineola; seven sons, Larry Bass of Quitman, Ronnie Bass and wife Susan of Golden, Ricky Bass and wife Debbie of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Hugh Geipe of Keller, Myron Geipe of Euless, Huron Geipe of Ft. Pierce, Florida, and Steve Geipe of Allen; six grandchildren, Shane Bass, Katie Richardson, Jessica Christian, Landon Bass, Amy Bass, and Cody Bass; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will be planning a memorial service at a later date.
