Dr. Houston Long

Dr. H. Houston Long, Grand Saline, passed on to be with his Father in heaven on Thursday August 9, 2012 at the age of 75 in Corpus Christi, TX after a four month battle with renal cancer. He resided with his wife Julia Ann Long in Grand Saline, TX for the past 40 years.
Dr. Long was born to John Andrew and Thelma Barnes Long July 30, 1937 in Crockett, TX. He was a graduate of Junction High School in 1955, The University of Texas College of Pharmacy and Baylor University College of Dentistry. Houston was a member of the East Texas Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Hideaway Lake Study Club. He was also a Fellow in the American Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Long was a member of First United Methodist Church where he taught the men's bible class for many years.
H. Houston Long is survived by his wife of 48 years Julia Long, his children Bryan Andrew Long and daughter in law Tamera Long, Stephen Wayne Long, Dyana Leigh Kenyon and son in law Paul David Kenyon. He enjoyed six grandchildren, Emma Kathryn Kenyon, Ruby Patricia Long, Cora Mae Long, Blake Merrill Kenyon, Sara Frances Long, and Will Reeves Kenyon. Other survivors include a sister Annie Bird Cother of North Little Rock, AR and brother in law Dr. Sam Samuel Reeves of Plaquemine, LA and niece Molly and Jerry Bacon of Lindale.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday August 12 from 4-6 pm at Bartley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Bartley Funeral Home of Grand Saline on Monday August 13 at 10 am with the Rev. Don Brown and Bimmy Boyles officiating and burial at Woodside Cemetery.
