Services for Mr. Mike “Mickey” Maciel, 89, Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Mack Swain officiating.
Mr. Maciel passed away July 30, 2024, at his home. He was born May 8, 1935, in Van, to Vicente “Ben” & Josephine Cortez Maciel. He served our country in the US Army. Mickey married Movita Curnutt on November 15, 1957, in Grand Saline. He lived in the Grand Saline area all his life where he was a volunteer fireman, EMT and Paramedic, and retired from Morton Salt Co. Mickey enjoyed tinkering with cars, striking deals at the local garage sales, and visiting with his brothers and friends in the garage. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his time with them. Mr. Maciel is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe Maciel and Frank Maciel; and sister, Mary Pierce.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Movita Maciel of Grand Saline; four daughters, Melanie Malone (Cosby) of Grand Saline, Melinda Maciel of Canton, Laura Maciel of Grand Saline, and Paula Morris (Chad) of Grand Saline; three brothers, Ferd Maciel of Grand Saline, Cruz Maciel (Sue) of Port Neches, and Raymond Maciel (Lisa) of Grand Saline; two sisters, Connie Lewis of Houston, and Lucy Whitaker of Plano; seven grandchildren, Amber, Makayla, Jessica, Carey, Micah, Mackenzie, and Chandler; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Perritt, Ronnie Monk, Micah Maxfield, Chandler Morris, Gavin Malone, Blaine Griffith, and Matt Motley.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Maciel’s memory to a charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 10 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2024.
