Helen Marett

Services for Helen Barker Marett, 97, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Mack Swain and Cody Swain officiating.

Interment will follow in Shields Cemetery, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Mrs. Marett passed away June 14, 2023, in Grand Saline. She was born August 30, 1925, in Grand Saline. She was a lifelong resident of Grand Saline. Helen was a very talented painter and also loved cooking, doing yard work, taking long walks, and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; James Anderson Prestidge & Abbie Lourella Brown Prestidge; two husbands, Howard Barker and Orvil Marett; two brothers, Virgil Prestidge and Harvey Prestidge; sister, Alice Moden Alexander; son, Michael Barker; two grandsons, David Cole Barker and Michael James Barker; and stepson, Ray Marett.

Survivors include her son, David Glenn Barker of Irving; stepchildren, Tommie & Danny Stephens, and Gay & Carl Hathcock; two grandchildren, Kenneth Eugene Barker and Hallie Kate Barker Colquitt; step-grandchildren, Gay Lynn Burk and Donna Burk; five great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Barker and Kathi Barker; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jaxon Colquitt, Collin Duvall, Matt Duvall, Jordan Harris, Noah Blackmon, and Clay Duvall.

The family will receive friends 10 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
