Alba

Marvin Wayne “Cowboy” Fletcher, 87, of Alba, Texas, passed away on December 20, 2025, at 6:15 p.m., holding his daughter’s hand in the same home where he was born.

Born to Hallie-Byrd Fletcher and Marvin Fletcher, Cowboy grew up with a deep love for people, hard work, and his community. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Georgia Stiles and Betty Ann James; and his brother-in-law, George Stiles.

Cowboy is survived by his devoted wife, Frances Jean Fletcher; his daughter, Hallie-Byrd Jean Fletcher Johnson, and son-in-law Phil Johnson; his adopted daughter, Casey Bohannan; cousins Sam Fletcher and Junior McKenzie; sister-in-law Mary Stokes; and brother-in-law John Stokes.

Pallbearers will be Sam Fletcher, Charles Steve Mallory, Dustin Bohannan, Mike Glidewell, Stevan Johnston, and Chandler Bohannan. Honorary pallbearers include Randy Earley, Larry Lawrence, Carrol Johnston, Mike King, Justin Barron, Johnny Byrd, Junior McKenzie, Jim Bob Williams, Lane Jordan, and John Stokes.

Over the course of his life, Cowboy held many roles, but he was most proud of his 30 years of service as a Field Inspector for the Texas Railroad Commission and his lifelong work as a cattleman. He was a lifelong gun collector and hunter and was known for making a mean squirrel stew. A loving husband and father, he embodied determination and resilience, always teaching his daughter to “get back on the horse,” both in the arena and in life.

Cowboy was an extraordinary father who never missed a play day, basketball game, cheerleading event, UIL competition, or award ceremony. He had a gift for connection, never meeting a stranger and forming lasting relationships with neighbors and community members. He did the best he could, and he did it his way.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home in Alba, Texas, followed by the funeral service and burial.

Cowboy’s legacy of humor, kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and community will be cherished forever.
