George Massie

Mr. George Frank Massie, 84, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at his residence in Golden. He was born May 23, 1939, in Golden to Hermit William and Leola McQueen Massie. George lived all his life in Golden and was a member of Golden Church of Christ. On December 20, 1957, he married Barbara Jean Murdock in Odessa. He was known as a very understanding man. He loved to hunt and fish. He mentored several young men in the art of fishing, hunting, and knowing right from wrong. George was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, H.W. (Dub) Massie and Joe Ferrell Massie.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Massie of Golden; three sons, Terry Massie and wife Kathy of Golden, Gerry Massie and wife Mariann of Golden, and Kelly Massie of Golden; four grandchildren; Wendy Fitzgerald, Heather Massie, April Lewers, and Jarred Massie; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will be planning a memorial service at a later date.
