Claude Frank Mathews
Mr. Claude Frank Mathews, 85 of Mineola, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in a Tyler hospital with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born February 26, 1926 in Thrift to Claude & Vergie Mathews. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and served as a Corporal in WWII in the Asian Field. After the war, he moved to Grand Saline, and met and married the love of his life, Chlota Lee Waymire in 1947. Mr. Mathews worked in Dallas as a General Manager of a Chevrolet Dealership for 30 years and then retired to the beautiful Mineola area. He loved to fish and spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Wayne Mathews and grandson, Dylan Gregory Cagle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Chlota Lee Mathews of Mineola; two daughters, Vickie Mathews of Mineola and Cindy Hawkins and her husband Douglas of Mineola; two sons, Kenneth Mathews and his wife Deborah of Mineola and Gary Mathews and his wife Carol of Cedar Creek; three grandchildren, Sandy, Chuck and Tina; and several great-grandchildren.
Claude Mathews believed in the Lord and loved his family. May God bless him and keep him. Amen
