Memorial services for Judy Lee Nix-McCasland, 72, of Alba, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Amazing Grace Fellowship Church, Alba, with Bro. Byron George officiating, under the direction of the church and family.
Judy passed away April 29, 2024, at her residence in Alba, surrounded by her family. Judy and her twin brother Gerald (Jerry) were born January 18, 1952, in Dallas, to James A. and Betty Jo Kindle Yarbrough. She grew up in Garland and graduated from Garland High School class of 1970. She was a floral designer for over 20 years and later, a senior payroll specialist for L.L. Roberts Professional Employers. On December 17, 2011, she married Lenis Derrell McCasland in Lavon. Together, they moved from Lavon to the Alba area 8 years ago. Judy loved reading, floral design, especially weddings, and nature. She was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church, Alba. She loved her church and her church family.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, James A. Yarbrough; mother, Betty Jo Yarbrough; twin brother, Jerry (Gerald) Glen Yarbrough; and husband, James Wayne Nix.
Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Lenis McCasland of Alba; daughter, Amie Spraggins-Rumsey of Greenville; grandson, Cody Rumsey of Greenville; great-grandson, Dax Lee Rumsey of Dallas; brother, Jimmy Lynn Yarbrough of Cathedral, CA; stepdaughters, Janelle Nix Wolfson and husband Michel of Rowlett, Janette Nix Toney and husband Doug of Montrose, CO, Kandy Brazell of Royse City, and Misty McCasland of Alba; step grandchildren, Adriene Goforth Houghtlin and husband Shawn of Wylie, Craig Ellis and Joanne Albright of Dallas, Tyler Wolfson of Rowlett, Cullen Ellis and wife Emma of MO and Ryan Brazell of Royse City; great-granddaughter, Marie Claire Ellis of MO; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the hospice nurses and support staff, Priscilla, Tamara, Brandi, and Danny, as well as her friends from Amazing Grace Fellowship Church. Bro. Byron and Martha George, and her church family were all amazing.
