ALBA – Services for Donald Earl McKenzie, 74, of Alba, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Enon Baptist Church, Alba, with Pastor Reggie Day and Bro. Bob Hardin officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba, under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. McKenzie passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in a Quitman nursing home.
He was born April 27, 1939, in Alba, to the late W. D. and Hazel Cross McKenzie. He married Nellie M. Hass on June 9, 1958, in Hugo, Oklahoma. He was a lifelong resident of Alba and was self-employed in agriculture. He served in the Army and on the Alba-Golden School Board. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on the building committee, and he loved to play ‘42’.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nellie McKenzie of Alba; sons, Jimmy Don McKenzie of Alba, and Wesley McKenzie and wife Laurie of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Sandra Thompson and husband Jamie of Mineola; brother, Gary McKenzie and wife Judy of Alba; sisters and husbands, Nan and Rex Owen, Karen and Gert Bohannan, and Pam and Douglas Hass, all of Alba; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Brad Lennon, Chad Lennon, Don Pogue, Christopher Hass, Mike Lopez, and Brad Weisert.
Honorary pallbearer is Louis Willoughby.
Memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church, P. O. Box 399, Alba, 75410.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
