Services for Mr. John Melton, 64, of Emory, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Sis. Delana Wheeler officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery.
Mr. Melton passed away June 21, 2023, at his home. He was born March 15, 1959, in Quitman, to Wildon Otto & Dixie Delores Norris Melton. He worked as a mechanic and welder most of his life. He loved being a cowboy, especially riding and training horses. Although most people didn’t know, he was a great singer and writer. John was preceded in death by his parents, and grandchild, Bentley Maples.
Survivors include his wife, Lejuana Jo Alsip of Emory; two sons, Marshal Melton (Brittany) of Grand Saline, and Eric Melton of Alba; three daughters, Kara Melton (Marc Maxfield) of Grand Saline, Desiree Brown (Kelly) of Henderson, and Kaylie Hasten of Mineola; stepsons, Sean Alsip and Troy Alsip; stepdaughters, Sarah Alsip and Syrena Alsip, both of Emory; three sisters, Deborah McDonald of Grand Saline, Rebecca Hernandez of Mineola, and Lynn Melton of Athens; twelve grandchildren, Cameren, Brandon, Bryan, Melany, Hunter, Kylie, Kynzi, Jackson, Everett, Maliah, Ryland, and Ryleigh; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Billy Bob Hamilton, Roger Hurst, Matt Watkins, Donald Ray Roseman, Troy Alsip, and Ronny Roseman.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the funeral home.
