ALBA – Services for Brenda Joyce Monsey, 70, of Alba, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Alba, under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Bro. Kelly Burton officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Alba.
Mrs. Monsey passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, in a Tyler hospice facility.
She was born July 23, 1943, in Arlington, to the late Lemuel Clyde and Linnie Evelyn Holloway Lee. She married Lester Monsey March 15, 1965, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. They lived in Grand Prairie where she was a legal secretary for Hughes and Luce Law Firm. She was a member of the Irving Bass Club for 20 years, and a member of the National Rifle Association. They moved to Alba in 1999. She was a homemaker, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Alba.
Survivors include son, Jeffrey Monsey of Grand Prairie; daughters and spouses, Rene and Eddie Pope of Alba, and Miriam and Chris Harmon of Richmond; sisters, Linda Cuff and spouse Larry of Florida, and Betty Lee of Pantego; 8 grandchildren: Crystal Polerstock, Megan Ratliff, Edward Lee Pope, Jr., Chance Pope, Lester Ray Monsey II, Brandon James Monsey, Evelyn Harmon and Ethan Harmon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Monsey, 1/10/2012; and aunt, Dahlia Lee.
Pallbearers are Jeffrey Monsey, Edward Lee Pope, Jr., Chris Harmon, Lester Ray Monsey II, Wendell Williams, and Josh Mize.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-7 p.m. on Sunday.
