Services for Reverend Roy Hubert Morgan, 89 of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Roundflat Pentecostal Church with Bro. Homer Morgan, Bro. Donnie Herring and Bro. J.C. Willingham officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mesquite Cemetery, Mesquite.
Mr. Morgan passed away June 10, 2013 at his home in Fruitvale. He was born June 3, 1924 in Rains County to Homer B. & Mable B. Christopher Morgan. He spent his early years in Grand Saline where he worked at Morton Salt Co., 56 years in Mesquite and the last year in Fruitvale. He was with Buckley Oil Company for 15 years and retired from Ford Motor Company after 20 years of service. He was a pastor at Roundflat Pentecostal Church for 49 years. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Lillie Mae Morgan; infant son, Roy Lee Morgan; two brothers, Jessie Morgan and Ovalee Morgan; and sister, Violet "Koot" Woodrum.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Homer & Debbie Morgan of Fruitvale; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce & Eugene Moody of Wills Point; five sisters and brother-in-law, Hazel Wheeler and Lourilla Stanley, both of Grand Saline, Pauline & Billy Wayne Smith, Homma Lou Lovett and Jean Daugherty, all of Fruitvale; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Moody, Randall Morgan, Craig Morgan, Jason Cook, Jason Thompson, Michael Cook, Dan Rossi and Chris Chambless.
Memorials may be made to Roundflat Pentecostal Church, P.O. Box 312, Fruitvale, TX 75127.
The family will receive friends 5-9 p.m., Wednesday at Roundflat Pentecostal Church.
