Lanona Faye Melton Murphy
ALBA– Graveside services for Lanona Faye Murphy, 83, of Alba, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016, at Emory City Cemetery, Emory, with Bro. Craig Kearby officiating, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Ms. Murphy passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016, at her residence in Alba.
She was born Monday, July 24, 1933, in Emory, to the late Luther LaFayette and Rubye Mae Kearney Melton. She married Richard Arlen Murphy on March 2, 1951, in Dallas. Lanona had lived in the Alba area since October of 1984 and was an office clerk for many companies. She was a member of the Lake Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Brett Murphy-Weaver of Mineola and Scott Murphy-Weaver of Mineola; daughters, Cindy Wagley of Hope, Arkansas and Robin Martin and husband Bob of Mineola; sister, Ramona Lewers of Alba; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Arlen Murphy; brother, Arvis Melton; son-in-law, John Wagley; great-grandson, John Luke Odom; and special companion, Buffy.
Pallbearers will be Lance Ripley, Alan Wagley, Riley Odom, Richard Martin, Lucas Martin, Dylan Ripley, Aidan Wagley, and Ryan Routsong.
There will be no visitation.
