Services for Nita Armour, 93, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Sand Flat Baptist Church, with Bro. Steve Futch officiating.
Burial will be in Sand Flat Cemetery, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Nita passed away February 24, 2026, in Quitman. She was born June 8, 1932, in Grand Saline, to Leonard “Jack” Wright and Dexter Berry Wright. Nita spent her early years in Grand Saline before moving to Dallas in 1941. She married Rex Armour on July 22, 1950, and they made their home in Grand Prairie until 1989, when they returned to Grand Saline, where she lived for the past 36 years. She was a member of Sand Flat Baptist Church.
She was a sweet-spirited person who enjoyed caring for her home and the people in it. Nita was an excellent seamstress, also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, taking pride in the things she made. She had an interest in interior design, cooking, painting, and researching family history through genealogy. She was known for her hospitality and willingness to serve others. Long before it was common, Nita practiced recycling and believed in taking care of what she had. In her 40s, she learned to swim and became a Red Cross swim instructor.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Rex Armour; her son, Stanley Bruce Armour; her sister, Dedell Perry; her brother, Manuel Wright; and her son-in-law, Mark Hansell.
Survivors include her son, Gary Armour (Tammy) of Grand Prairie; two daughters, Celia Hansell of Grand Saline, and Gwen Armour of Tyler; five grandchildren, Tim Armour (Natonia), Erica Collins (Michael Blackburn), Shawn Armour, Luke Hansell (Angela), and Lauren Benton (Josiah); nine great-grandchildren; special friend, Maudeen McCormick of Grand Prairie; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tim Armour, Luke Hansell, Josiah Benton, Shawn Armour, Eric Autry, and Scott Stephens.
Memorials may be made to Country Place Senior Living (Pine) Activites, 1833 S. Trade Days Blvd, Canton, TX, 75103.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
