Ona Mae DiSalvo

November 26, 1932 — January 22, 2026

Grand Saline

Services for Ona Mae Davis DiSalvo, 93, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Smith officiating.

Interment will be in Corinth Cemetery, Grand Saline.

Ona passed away January 22, 2026, in Grand Saline. She was born November 26, 1932, in Grand Saline to William Ray and Odessa Hollis Davis. She was a lifelong member of Corinth Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as the song leader for many years. Music and worship were a meaningful part of her life and her church family.

She was a registered nurse, earning her degree from the UTMB School of Nursing in Galveston. Ona began her nursing career as a traveling nurse in Alaska. Though she spoke fondly of her time there, she often shared how intimidating and vastly different it was from her beloved East Texas. Her journey next took her to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she met her future husband, Nicholas “Nick” DiSalvo.

Ona eventually returned home to care for her father, leaving Nick behind. Not long after, she received a dozen red roses along with a heartfelt marriage proposal. Ona and Nick were married on October 6, 1970, in Terrell.

She later continued her nursing career closer to home, working at Cozby Germany Hospital in Grand Saline and Mineola General Hospital. After retiring, Ona found great joy in painting, especially flowers and birds. Her artwork earned several blue ribbons at the Van Zandt County Fair, and she was a proud member of the Van Zandt County Art League.

Ona and Nick loved traveling together, particularly trips to the East Coast to visit his family. Whether through her nursing, her art, her music, or her devotion to family and faith, Ona lived a life marked by service, creativity, and love.

Ona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nicholas Di Salvo; two brothers, Jessie Lee Davis and Marvin “Harp” Davis; two sisters, Cindy Lou Burge and Inis Stradford; and sister-in-law, Hazel Davis.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, Leroy Stradford of Albuquerque, NM; and sister-in-law, Ophelia Davis of Grand Saline; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Davis, Kyle Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Gerald Denton, Bobby Anderson, and Wesley Allen.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Azalea Trails and Aspen Hospice for their excellent care.

Memorials can be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 9734 FM 1255, Grand Saline, Texas 75140.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
