Graveside services for Guy Wayne Payne, 83, of Lone Oak, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Hall Cemetery, Lone Oak, with Bro. Robert Cook officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak.
Mr. Payne passed away April 17, 2023, in Greenville. He was born June 2, 1939, in Lone Oak, to Jim and Mildred Lawson Payne. Guy spent his early years in Phoenix, AZ, and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. He joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He had lived in Lone Oak for the past 58 years. He built homes, owned and operated Payne’s Exxon, and retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 39 years, Gay Neita Dodd Payne; four brothers, James Payne, Howard Payne, Phillip Payne, and Shirley Glen Payne; sister, Ramona Smith; seven nephews, Jimmy Wayne Payne, Frankie Payne , Lewis Dan Smith, David Payne, Wayne Gideon, Randy Payne, and Mike Payne; and niece, Jackie Van Buskirk.
Survivors include two daughters, Lyneita Leopold and husband Trent of Desoto and Amy Houser and husband Kevin of Lone Oak; two sisters, twin sister, Leona Holleman and husband Don of Quinlan and Francis Van Buskirk of Payson, AZ; three grandchildren, Ryan Marney and wife Sheena of Bossier City, LA, Nick Marney and wife Courtney of Lone Oak, and Chelsea Adams and husband Blake of Tira; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Marney, Nick Marney, Otis Payne, Greg Payne, Russell Carter, and John Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are John Howard Payne and Herbie Smith.
