Services for Mrs. Betty Pickens Phillips, 86, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Fruitvale Church of Christ, with Carl McCann officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips passed away December 19, 2024, in Tyler. She was born May 31, 1938, in the Morince Community of Van Zandt County, to Ocie Talmadge and Lydia Bill Wade Pickens. She lived all her life in Van Zandt County. On July 14, 1956, she married Alvin Phillips in Greenville. Betty was a beloved member of the Fruitvale Church of Christ and a very faithful Christian lady. She had many talents, was extremely artistic and enjoyed sewing, painting, and crocheting. Betty worked with the Van Zandt County Genealogy Society and Find A Grave. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alvin Phillips; siblings, Billy Paul Pickens, Doris Rae Phillips, and Doug Pickens; three great-grandchildren, Vanessa Paige Cervantes, Jillian Avery LaPrade, and Cain Lee.
Survivors include her two sons, Tony Phillips (Sherri) of Grand Saline and Byron Phillips (Tina) of Granbury; two daughters, Cindy Allen of Chandler and Cheryl LaPrade (Lee) of Grand Saline; brother, Don Pickens (Rae) of Wills Point; fifteen grandchildren, Ashley Parmer (Shane), Courtney Hogue (Kyle), Britney Allen, Amber Cervantes, Megan Menasco (Edgar), Melanie Gary (Josh), Steven LaPrade (Jayna), Shawn LaPrade, Sawyer LaPrade, Chad Lee (Lezlie), Cody Lee (Natasha), Cade Lee, Jessie Brawner (Anna), Ashley Gifford (Cary), and Jared Clark; twenty-eight great-grandchildren, Ella, Amry, Gage, Myli, Hunter, Jim, Abby, Ally, Hudson, Gavin, Lily, Owen, Lola, River, Max, Jacklyn, Kalynn, Logan, Lane, Landry, Zander, Carter, Crander, Kate, Morgan, Reagan, Luke, and Ellie; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Steven LaPrade, Shawn LaPrade, Sawyer LaPrade, Gavin Cervantes, Hudson Childers, Amry Parmer, Owen Cervantes, and Max Gary.
Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandsons, Gage, Hunter, Jim, River, Luke, Zander, Carter, Crander, Logan, Lane, and Landry.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
