Services for Mr. Emmett Pope, 88, of Dallas, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Bro. Larry Shelton and Lester Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Alba.
Mr. Pope passed away February 2, 2024, at his home in Dallas. He was born July 10, 1935, in Dallas County, to Roy & Pearl Waddill Pope. He spent his early years in Grand Saline, served 10 years in the US Marine Corps Reserve; and the last 60 years in Dallas. He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ, in Dallas, and retired from AT & T. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Dorothy Gracey, Gloria Johnstone, and Becky Shelton; and one grandson, John D. Franklin.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sandra Pope of Dallas; two sons, Paul Pope of Tyler, and Michael Franklin of Dallas; daughter, Terry Cosper of Irving; sister, Charlotte Townsend of Allen; four grandchildren, John Pope, Charles Cosper, Jr., Ashley Taylor, and Brittany Pope; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Lester Miller, John Pope, Charles Cosper, Jr., Johnny Gracey, Kenneth Taylor, and Robert Becerra.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the funeral home.
