Services for Zackey Wayne Raymond, 79, of Alba, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Bro. Eddy Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba.
Mr. Raymond passed away September 29, 2024, at his residence in Alba. He was born December 31, 1944, in Grand Saline, to Charlie Gilbert and Martha Bernice Tharp Raymond. On May 21, 1965, he married Carol Annette Gaby in Fruitvale. Together, they moved to Alba, in 1965. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Alba. He worked at Morton Salt Mine in Grand Saline, for 6 years. He then went to work for E-Systems in Greenville, as an electrical engineer. His work with E-Systems took him all over the world to different places including Sinai Peninsula, New Zealand, and Ukraine, before retiring in 2015. Zackey was very passionate about hunting and fishing. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Weeks; and three brothers, Charles Raymond; Ben Raymond, and Jimmy Don Raymond.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Carol Raymond of Alba; two sons, Tim Raymond and wife Michelle of Mt. Pleasant and Cory Raymond and wife Glenda of Alba; five grandchildren, April Roach and husband Walker, Coby Raymond, Colton Raymond, Zackery Raymond, and Erin Raymond; two great-grandchildren, Cayson and Caroline; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Coby Raymond, Colton Raymond, Zackery Raymond, Walker Roach, and David Wheeler.
Honorary pallbearer Bubba Peebles.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
