Mrs. Rachel Ida Pinney Rivers, 92, of Yantis, passed away June 4, 2024, in Yantis. She was born March 30, 1932, in Hinsdale, NY, to Husted and Luella Mae Hamilton Pinney. Rachel had lived the last 23 years in Yantis and was a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church. In January of 1986, she married Wally Rivers in Irving. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for 25 years. She truly loved doing hair. Rachel also enjoyed fishing and playing the organ. And she loved cats! She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wally Rivers; infant son, Clifford Allen Deitrich; three sisters, Viola Bryant, Thelma Minchew, and Barbara Jones; and brother, Glenn Thurber.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sandy Stephenson and husband Bob and Kathy Williamson and husband Ken all of Yantis; sister, Frances Hurst of Breman, GA; seven grandchildren, Tony Ringueberg and wife Melanie, Angela Howard and husband Joe, K.C. Williamson, Jr. and wife Renee, Rick Stephenson and wife Renae, April Garrett and husband Jonathon, Rusty Stephenson and wife Cheryl, and Randy Stephenson and wife Laura; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; thirty-three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Mrs. Rivers is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Lake Fork Baptist Church, Alba, with Pastor Zach Tunnell and Bro. Danny Meek officiating, under the direction of the church and family.
