Bob Stephenson, born December 21, 1943, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at his home in Yantis, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Stephenson Sr., and his mother, Martha Blanche Stephenson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Sandy Stephenson; his sister, Geri (Ted) Spacek; his sister-in-law, Kathy (Ken); and his children: Rick (Renae), Rusty (Cheryl), Randy (Laura), April, Tony (Melanie), Renee (Joe), and Justin (Misty). He also leaves behind a remarkable legacy of 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Bob was a longtime member of Lake Fork Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Youth Minister and later as Director of Missions until his retirement. His life’s work reflected his deep faith and commitment to serving others, both in his local community and abroad. To the people of Arusha and Digodigo, Africa—he loved you deeply, and you held a very special place in his life. His life touched many, and his legacy of faith and family will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
While his presence will be deeply missed, there is comfort and joy in knowing he is now at peace and home with his Lord.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday the 25th of April 2026 at 2pm; First Baptist Church of Quitman, 301 Lane St, Quitman Texas 75783.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to support Bob’s passion for the youth, the family has arranged for donations in his memory to be made to the First Baptist Church Quitman Youth Department.
