Services for George A. Russell, 87, of Golden, are scheduled for 10 a.m., April 8, 2024, at Golden Baptist Church, with Dr. Mark Neeley officiating, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola.
Mr. Russell passed away April 4, 2024, at his residence in Golden. He was born July 4, 1936, in Munday, to James William and Nola Ruth Covey Russell. On November 18, 1955, he married Patsy Deloise Jones in Golden. George lived most of his life in the Golden area and was a member of Golden Baptist Church. He retired from Tyler Pipe after 37 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, farming, ranching, and spending time with his family, especially the kids. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of almost 60 years, Patsy Russell; daughter, Tamie Hogue; two brothers, James Russell and Walter Russell; four sisters, Elizabeth Russell, Etha Mae Russell, Bonnie Lively, and Myrtle Simpson.
Survivors include his two sons, Randy Russell and wife Bonnie and Tony Russell and wife Sandra all of Golden; sister, Francis Davis of Tyler; son-in-law, Lacy Hogue of Golden; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; lifelong friend, George Tom Hayes; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Russell, Brent Hughes, Justin Russell, Jed Sitar; Kyle Hogue, and Read Hogue.
Honorary pallbearers are Russell Clyburn, Jason Clyburn, Jet Russell, Jeremy Ragsdale, Adam Hogue, Travis Anderson, and Kyle King.
The family would like to say a special thank you to his caregivers, Vanessa, Brandy, Nikye, Marcie, Jessica, Trae, Tay, and Penny.
The family will receive friends 9 a.m., Monday, at the church.
