Services for Ruth Marie Moore Veach, 82, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Dr. David Christine officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Ruth Veach passed away May 17, 2026, at her home in Grand Saline. She was born on August 9, 1943, in Terrell, Texas, to Marie Moore and Horace Deeds. She was adopted by her grandparents, Clarence B. and Dollie Shivers Moore, at the age of three. Ruth grew up in Grand Saline and graduated from Grand Saline High School with the Class of 1961 before moving to Dallas.

On March 10, 1962, Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Earnest Veach. They lived in Dallas and Wichita Falls until 1972, when they returned to Grand Saline to make their home.

Ruth was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher for more than 30 years. She also led the church’s card ministry and participated in a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico in 2006. Ruth was active in serving others through the Van Zandt County Jail Ministry and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Van Zandt County, where she volunteered and served on their board of directors.

Ruth loved spending time with her grandbabies, working puzzles, and listening to gospel music.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence B. & Dollie Shivers Moore, Marie Moore, and Horace Deeds; daughter, Hollie Bishop; niece, Cristi Carroll; mother-in-law, Faye Veach; and father-in-law, Ben Veach.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Earnest Veach of Grand Saline; three sons, Tony Veach (Brandy) of Lake Cypress, Sean Veach (Laurie) of Grand Saline, and Chris Veach (Ashley) of Mineola; sister, Kay McKay of Alabama; ten grandchildren, Becky, Joshua, Seanna, Anna, Robert, Brayden, Hadley, Taylore, Kristin, and Jonathan; six great-grandchildren, Gaige, Brodie, Carter James, Orion, Arthur, and Matthew; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tony Veach, Chris Veach, Sean Veach, Josh Veach, Robert Veach, and Johnny Tobar.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brayden, Gaige, Brodie, and Carter.

Memorials may be made to Oakland Baptist Church, Mission Fund, 12468 Farm to Market Road 1255 Canton, Texas 75103.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
