Memorial services for Marvin Ray Scogin, 35, of Alba, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Sand Springs Baptist Church, Mineola, with Bro. Jim Parker, Bro. Kevin Wright, and Bro. Brandon Gray officiating, under the direction of the church and family.
Marvin Ray passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, in Quitman. He was born June 5, 1988, in Quitman to Marvin Leslie and Althea Raylynn Scogin. Marvin Ray lived in the Alba-Golden area most of his life and spent a few years with his wife in Lindale. He was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church and had an unwavering love for the Lord. On November 14, 2020, he married his best friend Tina Caruso in Emory. He worked diligently as a certified forklift driver for Ozarka Water in Hawkins. Marvin Ray enjoyed working out and had a love for all sports, especially the Texas Rangers. He was a devoted husband, treasured son, caring brother and a fun-loving uncle. He was protective and had a beacon of love and light, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Marvin Odel and Eloise Scogin and maternal grandparents Raymond Hays and Carol Hodges; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Susan Caruso; and grandfather-in-law, Jim Dickens.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Scogin of Alba; parents, Marvin and Althea Scogin of Alba; sister, Ashley Matthews and husband Joshua of Alba; two brothers-in-law, John Caruso and wife Whitley of Houston and Josh Caruso of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Melissa Tynes and husband Jabari of Fort Worth; two nephews, Jackson Matthews and Warrick Caruso; niece, Audrey Matthews; grandmother-in-law, Sara Dickens of California; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2024, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
