EMORY – Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Short, 81, of Emory, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, Alba, with Bro. Paul McMerrell officiating.
Burial will be in Turner Cemetery, Emory.
Ms. Short passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017, at her residence in Emory.
She was born Sunday, May 3, 1936, in Kaufman, to the late Joe Davis and Sybil Eugena Baily Bennett. She married Wayne Short December 23, 1954, in Rylie. Dorothy lived most of her life in Cedar Hill but spent the last 12 years living in Emory.
Survivors include her daughters, Renea Short of Emory and Denise Short Nuttting of Midlothian; brothers, James and wife Billie Bennett of Emory and Michael and wife Rita Bennett of Emory; sisters, Linda and husband Gary Herd of Cedar Hill and Jo Ann Bennett of Emory; grandchildren, Tyler Brooke Burd and Jake Dylan Nutting; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Wayne Short; and brother, Rickey Bennett.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Tubb, Jim Thompson, Glen Russell, TJ Townsend, Chase Herd, Scott Vaughn, and Levi Rogers.
Family visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service Thursday.
