Maxine Slemmons
LONE OAK– Services for Maxine Slemmons, 95, of Lone Oak, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, Lone Oak, with Reverend Danny Calk and Reverend Sue Gross officiating.
Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Lone Oak, under the direction of Bartley’s Lone Oak Funeral Home.
Mrs. Slemmons passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017, at her residence in Lone Oak.
She was born October 13, 1921, in Lone Oak, to the late Robert Lowrey and Ruby Lynn Johnson Slemmons. She married Harold Lee Slemmons on March 4, 1955, in Greenville. Maxine lived in Lone Oak all her life and graduated in the class of 1939 at Lone Oak High. She was the oldest active member of the First United Methodist Church in Lone Oak.
She is survived by her daughter, Lana Carpenter of Lone Oak; grandchildren, John & wife, Melissa Delcore of Lone Oak and Cara & husband, Charles Ivy of Lone Oak; great-grandchildren, Dayton Delcore and Chelsea Hughes; special friend, Greg Crawford; and numerous friends and church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Slemmons, and son-in-law, Johnny Carpenter.
Family visitation will be Monday, 12-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
