Carl Smith

GRAND SALINE – Memorial services for Carl Alan Smith, 76, of Silver Lake, are planned by the family for 11 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Silver Lake Baptist Church, in Silver Lake, with Bro. Mike Sullivan and Bro. Reggie Day officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. Smith passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, in a Tyler hospice facility.
He was born November 22, 1939, in Falls County, to the late Arthur Alan and Bonnie Bell Hogg Smith. He had lived in the Grand Saline area for 40 years where he owned and operated the Silver Lake Garden Center. He married Dorothy McClanahan on October 4, 2003, in Enon Baptist Church, Alba. He was a member of Silver Lake Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Smith of Silver Lake; sons, Jason Smith and his husband, Grason Smith, and Bruce Smith all of Henderson, Michael Smith and wife Mellissa of Silver Lake; daughter, Toni White and husband Matt of Eustace; two step-sons and spouses, Jeff and Debbie Matlock of Alba, and Hoby and Melinda Matlock of Mineola; sister, Leta Bradley and husband Ralph of Silver Lake; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Smith; twin infant daughters Marlene and Darlene; one brother; and three sisters.
