April 4, 1935 — November 19, 2019

Graveside services for Paul Jack Smith, aka "Cowboy Jack", 84, Point, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2019, at Donelton Cemetery with Pastor Benny Chaffin officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak.
Mr. Smith passed away peacefully at his home, in Point, on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. He was born April 4, 1935, in Rowlett to Robert Edward & Emma Lou Grandstaff Smith. Jack grew up in and around Rowlett and Garland and was the next to oldest of seven brothers and sisters. He was a welder by trade but was truly known as a “Jack of all trades” with his favorite career being that of a ranch hand when he was young. He also worked at the cotton gin in Garland and at the icehouse. At a young age, he loved playing his guitar, singing with his brother, and breaking horses. He also loved the rodeo, especially the bull riding, which he dabbled in occasionally. He loved country music and dancing and was known to sweep the ladies from 9-90 right off their feet. Most recently, he enjoyed his time caring for his sheep and going out to eat with his children.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Emma Smith; two brothers, William Edward Smith and Charlie Ray Smith; two sisters, Sarah Jane Hunt and Lola Florence Dennis; son, Walley Ray Smith; daughter, Stephanie Marie Alsobrook; and a grandson, Jason Langley.
Survivors include sisters, Emma Jean Brown and husband Herman of Chandler, Elizabeth Smith and husband James of Garland; daughters, Paula Dailey and husband David of Wills Point and Jackie Beesley and husband Steve of Wills Point; son, Wylie Doyle Cody and wife Beverly of Mineola; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Carter, James Craven, Robert Craven, Kristopher Alsobrook, Joe White and Robert Cole.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2019, at the funeral home.
Cowboy Jack will be missed.
