Walter Smith

Mr. Walter Jules Smith, 74, passed away, August 2, 2024, at his residence in Alba. He was born June 10, 1950, in Dallas, to Walter Sonny and Estelle Dickens Smith. Walter lived most of his life in Kaufman County. He loved to race cars on dirt tracks and was well decorated in high school sports. On May 23, 1986, he married Judy Butler in Grand Saline. He worked as a trucking dispatcher and was also a manager of Lindale Rural Water. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Smith; and two brothers, Weldon Smith and Ronnie Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Adam Smith of Alba and Andrew Smith of West Columbia; daughter, Amber Lynette Smyth and husband Kevin of Mansfield; sister, Delana Smith of Palestine; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
