Services for Mrs. Joyce Stewart, 86, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Winskie officiating.
Interment will be in Haven of Memories, Canton.
Mrs. Stewart passed away June 3, 2017, in Grand Saline. She was born April 17, 1931, in Martins Mill to W.C. & Justine Palmer Douglas. She grew up in Van where she graduated from Van High School in 1949. She married Floyd Stewart in 1951 and moved to Grand Saline. She worked as a teacher's aide for GSISD and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a 1953 Charter member of the Grand Saline Athena Club and received her lifelong membership award in 2010. She was a Cub Scout den mother and was active in all of her children's activities. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd T. Stewart; and brothers, Danny Gene Douglas and Jimmy Douglas.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Stewart and Debra Wilborn of Grand Saline; daughter, Vicki Savage and husband Kirby of Mineola; brother, Coker Douglas of Wiley; sister, Susan Bivens and husband Fred of Wiley; three grandchildren, Angie Allen, Lindsay Reeves and Courtenay Gunnels; four great-grandchildren, Reid Allen, Ty Gunnels, Gage Gunnels and Campbell Reeves; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Grand Saline Athena Club Scholarship Fund.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
