Services for Mr. Frank Stuart Jr., of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 4 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Bartley Funeral Home with Rev. Don Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Sand Flat Cemetery.
Mr. Stuart passed away June 11, 2013 in Grand Saline. He was born March 5 in Grand Saline to James Franklin & Mattie Hatton Stuart. He spent most of his life in Dallas before moving back to Grand Saline 28 years ago. He served in the Army Air Force 1943-1946, during WWII, and graduated from Texas A&M University, Class of 1950. He married Jewel Frances Taylor on November 25, 1948. Mr. Stuart was an electrical engineer for Dallas Power & Light Co.1951-1982. He was a member of the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers and a senior member of IEEE Power and Energy Society. He also served as Cub master, Scoutmaster Boy Scouts of America, Dallas 1960-1971; was chairman of the Finance Committee 1965-67, District Chairman 1975-76, and member of the Executive board 1975-76. Mr. Stuart served with USAAF, 1943-1946, was a recipient of Wood Badge Tng. Award Boy Scouts of America, 1966, Scouters award, 1967, Scouters Key award, 1970, and Silver Beaver award, 1974. Mr. Stuart was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He served on the Board of Directors for Pruitt and Sand Flat Water Supply and the Sand Flat Cemetery Association. Mr. Stuart enjoyed his family and his recent trip to Washington DC to the Veterans Memorial. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Stuart of Grand Saline; two sons, Mike Stuart of Irving and Glen Stuart of El Paso; daughter, Karen Scoggins of Dallas; three grandchildren, Chris Stuart & wife Monica, Mindy Shivers and Daniel Stuart; three great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Austin and Juliana Stuart; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
