ALBA – Graveside services for Ozella Pope Taylor, 102, of Alba are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Salem Cemetery, Alba, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Billy Charles Pope officiating.
Mrs. Taylor passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012, in a Longview nursing home.
She was born June 21, 1910, in Alba to the late William Clark "Bill" and Ethel Harvey Pope. She married Morris Taylor August 27, 1927, in Alba, where she lived most of her life. She worked as an inspector for Buddy Schoellkoph in Mineola and as the head jail cook for the Wood County Sheriff’s department for 22 1/2 years. She was a member of the Alba Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris Taylor; brothers, Kenneth Pope, Marvin Pope, Barney Pope, and Jink Pope.
Survivors include son, Alfred Taylor and wife Ann of Tyler; daughter, Ethyleen Pliler and husband Roger of Longview; sister, Mona Davis of Mineola; sister-in-law, Neva Nell Pope of Alba; grandchildren, Sherree Dougles, Danny Taylor, and Cindy Wohlgemuth; great-grandchildren, Clay Bradshaw, Kent Wohlgemuth, and Macy Wohlgemuth.
The family will receive friends one hour before service time at the funeral home.
