Mary Turner

March 21, 1943 — August 23, 2021

Mary Eugenia “Jennie” Brock Turner, 78, of Canton, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2021. She was born March 21, 1943, in Terrell, to Donnel Leslie & Mary Eugenia Phillips Brock.

Jennie spent her early years in Terrell, and most of her adult life in Van Zandt County. While in Terrell, her first job was a Candy Striper at Alexander Hospital. Jennie became a beautician at Tina’s Hair Affair and worked at Sears in Canton. She later worked as a detention officer, serving Van Zandt Co. Jail and Kaufman Co. Jail for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her two daughters, Stacie Chitty and husband Billy of Fruitvale, and Tracie Dupree and husband Robbie of Wills Point; two brothers, David Brock of Quinlan, and Charlie Brock and wife Janice of Mabank; sister, Donna Reed and husband Pat of Canton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Smallwood, Gary Don Rose and wife Kaydi, Jeromey Rose and fiancée Amanda, Jonathan Chitty, Corey Dupree and wife Brittney, Kevin Rose, and Cassi Chitty; seven great-grandchildren, Jayton, Cheyanne, Jacob, Gavin, Brysen, Halleigh, and Ely; Father of her Children, Melvin Turner; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jennie is remembered by her loved ones as someone who was selfless and loved everyone unconditionally. She never met a stranger, as she had a way of connecting with people to make them feel as if she had always known them. Jennie loved her family ‘BIG’ and enjoyed her time with them at ball games, playing bingo, fishing, gardening, sewing, racing chairs, and listening to golden oldies. She was always the life of the party and loved to laugh. She would do anything to put a smile on someone’s face. In addition to her sense of humor, she was known for her bear hugs and she would never hesitate to wrap you up in one.

Jennie was loved by everyone that knew her and she blessed us all in many ways. Her smile and happy-go-lucky personality will be deeply missed. Please honor her memory by planting beautiful flowers, being kind, loving BIG, and living life to the fullest.

A Celebration of Life is being planned by her family at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Victorian Lady Tea Room, 114 E. Market St., Mabank, TX 75147.
