Jo West

The family of Jo Ellen West will be holding private graveside services at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, with Greg Wright officiating. A memorial service for the public will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Chapel, at 12 p.m., under the direction of family and friends.

Jo Ellen McKenzie West, 78, of Alba, passed away June 2, 2022, in Jacksonville. She was born August 1, 1943, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Joseph W. and Frances Ellen Grumbles McKenzie. She spent most of her life in Alba. Jo was a public school teacher and retired after 31 years of service, teaching at Alba-Golden, Irving, and Garland. She was the president of the Mineola League of Arts for 10 years and was still an active member. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, David McKenzie.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years Frank West of Alba; son, William Keith Barnes and wife Jennifer of McCamey; daughter, Cindy Hartsell and husband Andy of Knoxville, TN; brother, Darrell McKenzie and wife Jean of Ben Wheeler; sister-in-law, Teresa McKenzie of SC; seven grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
