George Whitus

Mr. George Curtis Whitus, 79, of Alba, passed away, Friday, June 14, 2024, in Sulphur Springs. He was born November 8, 1944, in Rains County, to George Rowland and Ruby Fay Northcutt Whitus. George lived most of his life in Rains County. He owned and operated his own concrete business. He enjoyed deer hunting and was very passionate about raising livestock. He also loved to spend time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Whitus; infant brother, John Kenneth Whitus; two sisters, Judy Steed and Thelma McQueen.

Survivors include his three daughters, Roxann McCollough, Shannon Whitus, and Amanda Shelly all of Mansfield; two sisters, Jean Latham of Greenville and Peggy Geraldon of Yantis; three grandchildren, Michael McCollough, Sarah McCollough, and Landry Shelly; three great-grandchildren, McKinley McCollough, Maklynn McCollough, and McKoy McCollough; his dog, Rambo; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will have a memorial service for Mr. Whitus at a later date.
