Services for Mr. William David Johnstone, 91, of Garland, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Kyle White officiating.
Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Alba.
Mr. William Johnstone passed away on October 9, 2025, in Grand Saline. He was born September 10, 1934, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Dorothy Mae Fawcett, and was adopted at the age of five by Andrew and Ellen Johnstone.
William was raised in British Columbia, where he later served as a Flying Officer in the Canadian Air Force. He eventually moved to the United States, making his home in Grand Saline for 34 years before relocating to Dallas eight years ago. William worked as an electrician for 37 years on several major projects, including the GM plant in Arlington and Wills Point High School. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for 25 years and faithfully served as an Elder at the Grand Saline Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; Andrew & Ellen Johnstone; wife of 40 years, Gloria Ann Pope Johnstone; and brother, Fred Sallis.
Survivors include his two daughters, Virginia Wells and husband Brad of Wylie, and Janet Johnstone of Mesquite; sister, Marilyn Gillespie and husband Gus of Nanaimo, BC; two grandchildren, Barrett Wells, and Charlotte Wells; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Danny Milam, Rex White, Jesse Shelton, Larry Shelton, John Gracey, Don Gracey, Paul Pope, and Michael Franklin.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
