Services for Ruby Williams, 88, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2025, at Main Street Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Null and Bro. Homer Morgan officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Interment will be at 2 p.m., Monday, at Grove Hill Memorial Park, Dallas.
Mrs. Williams passed away March 11, 2025, in Canton. She was born on August 5, 1936, in Gilmer, to James William & Minnie Belle Bailey Lowe.
Ruby passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and faith.
Born and raised in Texas, Ruby spent several years in Dallas before settling in Mesquite, where she lived for 26 years and graduated from Mesquite High School. On June 20, 1953, she married the love of her life, Jessie Lee Williams, in Dallas.
Ruby dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked in the Mesquite ISD cafeteria for six years before spending 21 years as a valued employee at Sears. Thirty-six years ago, she and Jessie moved to Fruitvale. She worked at Fruitvale ISD as a custodian for six years, forming lasting connections with students and staff. She recently became an active member of Main Street Baptist Church and the Jubilee Sunday School Class.
Deeply proud of her heritage, Ruby was a member of both the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Her faith was central to her life, and she devoted herself to volunteer work, serving as a full-time prayer team member for Operation Christmas Child.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, James & Minnie Bell Lowe; her husband of 64 years, Jessie Lee Williams; son, Danny Joe Williams; brother, James Richard Lowe; and two sisters Lena Duffy and Odie Nutt.
Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Lee Williams and wife Tanis of Fruitvale, and Edward Williams and wife Victoria of Pottsboro; daughter, Peggy Jean Haverly and husband John of Grand Saline; 16 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Williams, John Haverly, Jamie Williams, Chuck Haverly, Asher Haverly, and Anthony Schwed.
