Obituary for J.C. Willingham

J.C.  Willingham
Services for Mr. J.C. Willingham, 90, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Roundflat Pentecostal Church with Bro. Homer Morgan and Bro. Jerry Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Colony Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Mr. Willingham passed away August 27, 2016, in Dallas. He was born July 22, 1926, in Point to Charley Wesley & Bertie Mae Lucas Willingham. He spent his early years in Van Zandt County and then lived in Dallas for about 60 years. He became an ordained minister in 1975 and was pastor of Guiding Star Full Gospel Church in Sunnyvale for 21 years. Mr. Willingham served in the US Army during WWII and was a truck driver for Chief Freight Lines for 25 years. He was a member of Local Union 745. He had been in Grand Saline for the last year where he was a member of Roundflat Pentecostal Church. Mr. Willingham was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 64 years, Willie Mae Willingham; three brothers, Cecil Willingham, Gene Willingham and Russell Willingham; and four sisters, Lucille Bailey, Celia Tillett, LaDale Davis and Faye Swindell.
Survivors include his wife of 3 years, Katherine Willingham of Grand Saline; two daughters, Jerry Charlene Fender and husband Johnny of Ben Wheeler and Judy Sonntag and husband Larry of Mesquite; three step-sons, Thomas Yaws, James Yaws and Darrell Holmes; a step-daughter, Shelia Sexton; five grandchildren, Steven Byram, Jeffery Dino Byram, Christopher Mays, Larry Joe Sonntag and Terry Joe Lindsey; eight great-grandchildren, Nick Byram, Derek Byram, Samatha Byram, Justin Byram, Meghan Byram, Jacob Mays, Makayla Mays and Conner Mays; two great-great-grandchildren, Joseph Byram and Presley Garrett; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Steven Byram, Jeffery Byram, Justin Byram, Jacob Mays, Derek Byram, Nick Byram and Chris Mays.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Roundflat Pentecostal Church.
